Mythic Love Archetypes

"Enchanted partnership is a bold and masterful inquiry into who two people really are and how we might become, while still on earth, the angels who reside within us."
—Marianne Williamson

Mythic Love serves to nourish our psyche on a deep and profound level by recognizing and empowering archetypes that feed our sense of well-being and fulfillment with life and in relationship. We've chosen three archetype pairs that most directly influence romantic love and feed its health and well-being and provide opportunity for Eros:

God/Goddess
King/Queen
Priest/Priestess

These archetypes are so important because they have been so neglected. We have forgotten/ignored our Divine Mythic Selves and become mired in the trap of human identity. People believe that they are their "stories," they are their history, they are the wounding of this human life. And then they go out in the world and try to create relationships as that! Beyond all of that is our Eternal nature, and when we begin to perceive ourselves and all others at the archetypal level, we recover the wonder and mystery of life.

So yes, (as Sunyata says in the following letter) “we're walking around calling each other God and Goddess, King and Queen, its fun, and it calls forth the highest aspects and fullest expression of our Divine/Human nature - not an inflated egoic concept of being "God/Goddess", but rather our fully individuated and integrated Ego-Self realization of our own divinity and supra-personal connection to all that is. It is also a practice of just being your best self.”

When the archetypes are recognized and integrated, you have the experience of being sovereign, complete, integrated and whole. As that you both are and have a beautiful, strong, powerful, independent Light Being to play with. This is the fulfillment of Love which we all have desired. Through consciously engaging each of these archetypes we avoid the dialectical struggles of identity thinking and create circulation that feeds Mythic Love. One comes to an understanding of the functions that each of these archetypes performs and the necessity of feeding each of the archetypes so that they are fully alive.

In the mundane mind, we all get lost in the illusion of separateness and other - when we “Go Mythic”, we return to our recognition of oneness and Divinity. So the question becomes, “Where do we invest our consciousness? At the Mythic level where we experience oneness, unity and archetypal being or at the mundane level where we experience contrast, differentiation, division and struggle.

At the mundane level we will always be critical, because people will always end up being “other” to us. “Going Mythic” takes you out of judgment or criticism to a higher level of perception. At the higher level there is always more possibility.

When two mythic BEings interact from a higher vibration the results are beautiful consequences of collaboration, co-creation, up-leveling, harmonizing, alignment, encouragement, love (in contrast to lower vibration interactions with the consequences of: gossip, back-biting, negativity, etc.). So the immediate effect is an up-leveling of all your relationships you practice this with.

A letter sent by Sunyata to our personal community of Divine Beings is a perfect exression of the value we've found in archetypal love:

Dear Ones,
"To me, to be "Mythic" means more than the opposite of mundane, or "old paradigm." Mythic-ness comes from a state of BEing that is produced when a person sees their self and others as divine Beings and interacts with them from this place of awareness. Since we all choose what filters we use to visit reality with why not choose one that promotes the highest aspects of who we are? Alorah and I are using the Carl Jung-ian concept of soul archetypes that represent strong energies within our being. We've named these as part of the "Mythic" realm since they have names like King, Queen, Goddess, and Priestess...

By playing with this type of "filter" we've discovered how much doing so nurtures the very archetypes we're playing with. So, our King/Queen becomes more developed and fuller in expression and the God/Goddess energies receive nourishment and growth, along with the Priest and Priestess -all of whom we've grown in appreciation for and made wonderful discoveries about who and what these energies are and how we can express them in the highest aspects and fullest capacities in our relationship and with interaction with others.

Alorah and I have found that by doing this we feel a response in our psyche (soul) by the other archetypes -as we feed one the others are also fed. This 'soul nourishing' shifts things inside our awareness and opens us to expansive consciousness and higher levels of relating. There is a "from the roots up" effect of nourishment to the whole Self. (...more on this to come later).

...So yes, we're walking around calling each other God and Goddess, King and Queen, its fun, and it reminds us of our Mythic Love, our divinity -in the highest aspects and fullest expression we know in the moment. Not the inflated Ego concept of being "God/Goddess" rather, the fully individuated and integrated Ego-Self realization of divinity and supra-personal connection to all that is- concept of divinity. It is also a practice of just being your best self.

Mythic Love is a frame by which we choose to engage with each other that produces stellar quality interactions and sustains our realization of our divine nature and connection with each other. "Let's 'Go Mythic'," Alorah says in reference to entering into a Mythic Love practice to regain balance, grounding, and divine perspective in reference to an upset or issue in the relationship. Time after time we've seen stellar results from this method -for ourselves and with other couples too.

We realized that three major archetypes are associated with relationship and romantic love:
King/Queen (Agape; the kingdom: family and domestic energies),
God/Goddess (Eros; the Lover, joi de vivre, progenerative creative manifest energies),
Priest/Priestess (Transpersonal; interaction with Source and physical; channeling Source energy, sacred service).

The practices are simple (Eye Gazing, Exquisite Engagement, Breath Kissing, Hand Dancing, Mythic Embrace, Divine Dance, and Mythic Writing) and there is the Mythic Love concept of bringing forward the highest aspects of each archetype while doing these practices. Try "seeing" your beloved as a divine archetype, a King/Queen, God/Goddess, while you eye-gaze, dance, hold, etc.

When we speak with each other we try to do so from our highest aspects of one of the archetypes -or one of us will ask to speak with an archetype instead of the person not-in-the-moment in front of us ("...could I please speak with God?" or "I'd like to talk with my Priest now please...") are signals to the other that a shift in consciousness is lovingly called for. We've also found a regular practice of Eye-Gazing is a great way to start the day AND as a prequel to discussing an upset.

I've been researching each of the archetypes and I'm amazed at what image is being formed of each one. I'll be reporting on all of that soon. In the mean time you might like to do what I'm doing which is to just imagine what a King [Queen] (God [Goddess], Priest [Priestess]) at his [her] most benevolent, loving, compassionate, supportive best would say/do and try to be like that. When I realize I've lost my mythic-ness I just try to go back to that mythic awareness and re-enter the moment as such. The results are amazing!"
Love and Light,
